And he showed me a river of the water of life, bright as crystal, coming out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. Down the middle of the city’s street, and on both sides of the river, is the tree of life, producing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

And there will be nothing under a curse any more. And the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will serve him. And they will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And there will be no night any more, and they have no need of lamplight or sunlight, because the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign into the ages.

And he said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent his messenger to show his servants what must happen soon.”

“And look — I am coming soon. Happy is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this scroll.”

And I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to bow at the feet of the messenger who was showing them to me. And he said to me, “Don’t do that. I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this scroll. Bow to God.”

And he said to me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is close. Let the one doing wrong go on doing wrong, and the filthy one go on being filthy, and the just one go on doing what is just, and the holy one go on being holy.”

“Look — I am coming soon, and my reward is with me, to pay each one according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.

Happy are those who wash their robes, so that they have the right to the tree of life and can go into the city through the gates. Outside are the dogs and the drug-workers and the sexually immoral and the murderers and the idol-worshippers, and everyone who loves and practises what is false.

I, Jesus, sent my messenger to testify to you about these things for the assemblies. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”

And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wants it take the water of life free of charge.

I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues written in this scroll. And if anyone takes away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are written about in this scroll.

The one who testifies to these things says, “Yes — I am coming soon.”
