The Unveiling
16The seven bowls

And I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven messengers, “Go and pour out the seven bowls of God’s anger onto the earth.”

And the first one went and poured out his bowl onto the earth, and a foul and painful sore broke out on the people who had the stamp of the animal and bowed to its image.

And the second poured out his bowl into the sea, and it turned to blood like a dead man’s blood, and every living thing in the sea died.

And the third poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water, and they turned to blood. And I heard the messenger of the waters saying:

“You are just — the one who is and who was, the holy one — because you have judged these things. Because they poured out the blood of God’s people and of the prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. They deserve it.”

And I heard the altar saying, “Yes, Lord God, Ruler over everything: your judgments are true and just.”

And the fourth poured out his bowl onto the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people with fire. And people were scorched with great heat, and they insulted the name of God, who has authority over these plagues — and they did not change their minds and give him glory.

And the fifth poured out his bowl onto the throne of the animal, and its kingdom went dark, and people chewed their tongues in pain, and they insulted the God of the sky because of their pains and their sores — and they did not change their minds about what they had done.

And the sixth poured out his bowl onto the great river Euphrates, and its water dried up, so that the road could be made ready for the kings from where the sun rises. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the animal and out of the mouth of the false prophet. They are the spirits of demons performing signs, and they go out to the kings of the whole inhabited world, to gather them for the battle of the great day of God, the Ruler over everything.

“Look — I am coming like a thief. Happy is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes on, so that he does not walk around naked and people see his shame.”

And they gathered them to the place called, in Hebrew, Har-Magedon.

And the seventh poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done.” And there was lightning and voices and thunder, and a great earthquake — one so great that there has not been one like it since human beings have been on the earth. And the great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And Babylon the great was remembered in front of God, to be given the cup of the wine of his raging anger. And every island fled, and no mountains were found. And huge hail, each stone the weight of a talent, came down out of the sky onto people — and people insulted God because of the plague of the hail, because that plague was extremely severe.
