The Unveiling
1The one among the lampstands

The unveiling of Jesus the Anointed, which God gave him so that he could show his servants what has to happen soon. He made it known through signs, sending it by his messenger to his servant John, who reported everything he saw: God’s message, and the testimony of Jesus the Anointed.

Happy is the one who reads this out loud, and happy are those who hear the words of this prophecy and hold on to what is written in it — because the time is close.

John, to the seven assemblies in Asia.

Grace to you and peace from the One Who Is and Who Was and Who Is Coming, and from the seven spirits in front of his throne, and from Jesus the Anointed — the trustworthy witness, the firstborn out of the dead, the ruler over the kings of the earth.

To the one who loves us, and who released us from our wrongs at the cost of his own blood, and made us a kingdom, priests serving his God and Father — to him be the glory and the power into the ages. Amen.

Look — he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, including the ones who stabbed him, and all the tribes of the earth will beat their chests over him. Yes. Amen.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “the One Who Is and Who Was and Who Is Coming, the Ruler over everything.”

I, John — your brother, and your partner in the pressure and the kingdom and the staying power that we have in Jesus — was on the island called Patmos because of God’s message and the testimony of Jesus. I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard a loud voice behind me, like a trumpet, saying: “Write what you see on a scroll and send it to the seven assemblies — to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.”

I turned around to see the voice that was speaking with me, and when I turned I saw seven gold lampstands, and among the lampstands someone like a son of man, wearing a robe down to his feet, with a gold band across his chest. His head and his hair were white as white wool, white as snow, and his eyes were like a flame of fire. His feet were like fine bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing water. He held seven stars in his right hand, a sharp double-edged sword came out of his mouth, and his face was like the sun at full strength.

When I saw him I dropped at his feet like a dead man. And he put his right hand on me and said:

“Stop being afraid. I am the first and the last, and the living one. I was dead — and look, I am alive into the ages, and I hold the keys to death and to the grave.

So write down what you saw, and what is, and what is going to happen after this. Here is the secret of the seven stars you saw in my right hand, and of the seven gold lampstands: the seven stars are the messengers of the seven assemblies, and the seven lampstands are the seven assemblies.”
