The Unveiling
19Hallelujah, and the rider

After this I heard what sounded like the loud voice of a huge crowd in the sky, saying:

Hallelujah. The rescue and the glory and the power belong to our God, because his judgments are true and just. He has judged the great prostitute who ruined the earth with her immorality, and he has taken back from her hand the blood of his servants.”

And a second time they said, “Hallelujah. And her smoke goes up into the ages.” And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and bowed to God, who sits on the throne, saying, “Amen. Hallelujah.”

And a voice came from the throne saying, “Praise our God, all his servants, and those who fear him, small and great.” And I heard what sounded like the voice of a huge crowd, like the sound of rushing water and like the sound of strong thunder, saying:

“Hallelujah — because the Lord our God, the Ruler over everything, has begun to reign. Let us be glad and celebrate and give him the glory, because the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. She was allowed to dress in fine linen, bright and clean.”

The fine linen is the just acts of God’s people.

And he said to me, “Write: happy are those invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.” And I fell at his feet to bow to him. And he said to me, “Don’t do that. I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold the testimony of Jesus. Bow to God — because the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

And I saw the sky opened, and there was a white horse, and the one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and he judges and makes war in fairness. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many royal bands. He has a name written that nobody knows except himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is called: the Word of God. And the armies in the sky were following him on white horses, dressed in fine linen, white and clean. And a sharp sword comes out of his mouth, to strike the nations with it. And he will shepherd them with an iron rod, and he treads the winepress of the raging anger of God, the Ruler over everything. And on his robe and on his thigh he has a name written: King of kings and Lord of lords.

And I saw a messenger standing in the sun, and he shouted in a loud voice to all the birds flying high overhead: “Come, gather for God’s great supper — to eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders and the flesh of strong men, the flesh of horses and their riders, the flesh of everyone, free and slave, small and great.”

And I saw the animal and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered to make war against the one sitting on the horse and against his army. And the animal was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs in its presence, by which he led off the road those who received the stamp of the animal and bowed to its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire burning with sulphur. And the rest were killed by the sword coming out of the mouth of the one sitting on the horse, and all the birds ate their fill of their flesh.
