And I saw a messenger coming down out of the sky, holding the key to the bottomless place and a great chain in his hand. And he took hold of the dragon, the ancient snake, who is the Slanderer and the Accuser, and tied him up for a thousand years, and threw him into the bottomless place, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he could not lead the nations off the road any more until the thousand years were finished. After that he has to be released for a short time.

And I saw thrones, and people sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the lives of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of God’s message — those who had not bowed to the animal or its image and had not received the stamp on their foreheads or their hands. And they came to life and reigned with the Anointed for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were finished.

This is the first resurrection. Happy and holy is the one who has a share in the first resurrection. The second death has no authority over them; they will be priests of God and of the Anointed, and will reign with him for the thousand years.

And when the thousand years are finished, the Accuser will be released from his prison. And he will go out to lead off the road the nations at the four corners of the earth — Gog and Magog — to gather them for battle, and their number is like the sand of the sea. And they came up over the width of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people and the city he loves. And fire came down out of the sky and ate them up. And the Slanderer who had led them off the road was thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur, where the animal and the false prophet are — and they will be tormented day and night into the ages.

And I saw a great white throne, and the one sitting on it, and the earth and the sky fled from his face, and no place was found for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing in front of the throne, and scrolls were opened. And another scroll was opened, which is the scroll of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the scrolls, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead in it, and death and the grave gave up the dead in them, and each was judged according to what they had done. And death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death: the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the scroll of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
